Only weeks until Winstock ‘09
Several special things have been added to the Winstock 2009 line-up, including a guest appearance by Minnesota’s own Casey Carlson, and also a stunning tribute to the late great country music legend Patsy Cline. The 16th annual Winstock 2009 will take place in less than two weeks, Friday and Saturday, June 12-13, at the festival grounds in Winsted, Minnesota.
Winstock 2009 headliners Brooks & Dunn have sold more than 30 million albums, had 23 number one hits, and are four-time entertainers of the year. They have been named both the CMA and ACM Duo of the Year 14 times, and are the most awarded artist in CMA and ACM history! Brooks and Dunn, simply put, are country music - and they’re following their “Red Dirt Road” straight to Winstock 2009. The most powerful duo in country music will be closing out the show Saturday, June 13, marking their first-ever Winstock appearance - this is one for the record books, so don’t miss on the exciting chance to see Winstock history happen.
Winstock is also proud to welcome Big & Rich with Cowboy Troy to make Winstock goers part of their “Freak Parade” Friday night, June 12! With a limited touring schedule in 2009, Winstock is excited to have Big & Rich coming to our city with all of the hits, including “Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy),” “Comin’ to Your City,” and “Lost In The Moment.”
Joining Brooks & Dunn, Big & Rich with Cowboy Troy will be LeAnn Rimes, Billy Currington, Bucky Covington, Neal McCoy, Heidi Newfield, The Lost Trailers, Randy Houser, Kristy Lee Cook, The Daisy Dillman Band, The Dixie Hicks, The Smok’n Guns, and Roy Dawson and The Bootleggers.

Casey Carlson at Winstock ‘09
Casey Carlson will be making a guest appearance at Winstock 2009 on the Emerging Artists Stage at 8:15 p.m. Saturday, June 13. Carlson made it into the top 36 contestants of the hit television series “American Idol 8” this year.
The Eden Prairie native and University of Minnesota student was in the first group of 12 contestants to perform of the top 36. She didn’t receive enough votes to secure a spot among the finalists, and the judges did not give her a second chance on the wild card show.
Carlson is presently in the process of recording a demo with Paul Peterson to use to shop for a record deal. At this stage in her life, she is continuing to find herself as an artist and looking to take the next steps in her career.
“A lot of the fans that talked to me and saw me on the show said that they really heard a country twang in my voice, which is definitely true,” Carlson said. “I think that, naturally, that’s just the way my voice sounds, so I think that my music is going to sort of lean in that direction and my voice is going to make it tie all together. It’s not like I’m from Nashville and have all these country roots, it’s just that that is sort of the style I really like. Sort of a Colbie Caillat kind of meets Taylor Swift - not a severe country pop, but more like a folky pop.”
Carlson fans can expect to hear her version of Vanessa Carlton’s “A Thousand Miles” as the first offering from her demo that she did during an Idol audition.
Kristy Lee Cook and Bucky Covington, two former American Idol performers, will also be at Winstock June 12 and 13.
