Alan Jackson to headline Winstock ‘10

By Ryan Gueningsman

Organizers of Winstock are excited to announce that country music superstar ALAN JACKSON will headline Winstock 2010 Saturday, June 12, 2010.

The 17th annual Winstock Country Music Festival will take place Friday and Saturday, June 11-12, 2010 at the Winstock grounds in Winsted, Minnesota.

Over the course of his career, with 16 Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum albums leading up to the release last year of “Good Time,” Alan Jackson has become one of country music’s most respected and honored artists and songwriters.

He has sold more than 50 million albums and has more than 100 major industry awards to his credit. Jackson is a three-time Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year and the most-nominated artist in CMA history.

“He puts on a great show, and it’s nice to be able to get one of the top artists in country music that has won so many awards to appear at Winstock,” commented Winstock Festival Chairman Dave Danielson.

A prolific songwriter, Jackson penned 23 of his 34 number one singles, including his GRAMMY-winning Best Country Song, “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning).”

Jackson’s most recent collection Good Time, released in 2008, became the fourth album of his career to debut simultaneously at number one on Billboard’s Top Country Albums and all-genre Billboard 200 sales charts.

All the songs on the album were penned by Jackson, and three, “Small Town Southern Man,” “Good Time,” and “Country Boy,” have been number one singles and a fourth, “Sissy’s Song,” became Jackson’s 50th top 10 single.

Recently, Jackson received a CMT Award for Performance of the Year and was named by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to receive a star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame.

“The last time I saw him, he had a great stage show and brought with him quite a production,” Danielson said. “Just his name alone. When I’ve told people that Alan Jackson is coming to Winstock, a lot of people are very excited we’re able to get an artist of that caliber at Winstock.”

Released at the end of August 2009, the video for Alan Jackson’s song “I Still Like Bologna” is a humorous look back on changing times and the country superstar’s continuing affection for a favorite sandwich and has recently hit CMT and GAC.

Other Jackson standards include: “She’s Got the Rhythm (And I Got the Blues),” “Tall, Tall Trees,” “Don’t Rock the Jukebox,” “A Lot About Livin’ (And a Little ‘bout Love),” “Chattahoochee,” and “Drive,” among countless others.
