Sizzling newcomer Emily West completes Winstock 2008 Lineup
One of Capitol Records’ top new artists, Emily West recently confirmed to perform on the Emerging Artists Stage at Winstock 2008, completing the lineup for the 15th anniversary celebration of the country music festival in Winsted, Minn. Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14.
West is an Iowa native who cites everyone from Patsy Cline to Bette Midler to Vince Gill and even Stevie Wonder as her musical influences. At age 26, West has spent the last 8 years in Nashville finding herself as an artist.
“People say, ‘That’s a long time, did you get frustrated?’ You’re damn right I got frustrated! But with that experience comes perseverance, knowledge, and wisdom,” West said. “I’m so happy to have that on my side. I feel like God has prepared me for this.”
She’s poured the joys and difficulties of her personal adventures into her songs, including her first single, “Rocks in Your Shoes,” which has been getting a lot of airplay on local radio.

“We’re excited to have Emily complete the Winstock lineup and bring her music to those who will attend Winstock this year,” said Winstock Festival Chairman Dave Danielson. “She’s a very promising talent and seems destined for good things.”
Over the past few years, Winstock’s Emerging Artists stage has been home to several acts before they “hit it big,” including Sugarland, who performed at Winstock in 2007, and Little Big Town, who performed at Winstock 2006 just as its debut single “Boondocks” headed toward the top of the charts.
Emily West will perform twice on the Emerging Artists Stage Saturday, June 14 at 2 p.m. and 6:10 p.m., alternating time slots with labelmate Lady Antebellum, who will perform at 4:05 and 8:10 p.m. See the rest of the Winstock 2008 schedule here.
